The Name

I chose the name Time Rewound for this blog because I am inspired by the historic American homesteaders, the folks who headed out into territories unknown, many of whom had little experience building houses or farming. I can share that sentiment in wanting to settle on a good spread of land with nothing but the highest hopes and the eagerness to meet the multitude of  challenges to come.
I've always enthused and somewhat identified with the time period of the Old West. I'm not naive enough to think that the John Wayne movies were a flawlessly accurate portrayal of that time in history, but I love them nonetheless and even after reading into how things actually were I still feel as though I'd be more comfortable living in that time frame than this one. I've had quite a few people agree with that sentiment too. But I admire the attitude and the setting of the time, where people lived on multiple acres outside of town and worked their land for sustenance instead of working in an office behind a desk. Individual freedom and responsibility were high, reliance on external entities was low, and there was a lot less crap in everyday life to distract you from the important things.
You'll see through future posts and photos that I very much enjoy this period in American history, and I think you'll see how it serves as my inspiration in many ways around the plans and notions of the future homestead. Lauren also enjoys the Old West, but mostly she is just amused by watching me enthuse over it. She appreciates the simplicity of it, so I guess that's enough for her to leave her sanity at the door and come ride along with me.
This blog gets its name from the vision I have for my future homestead. I want anybody who comes to live (including myself) or visit, to feel as though time has rewound and they have discovered a simpler way of life amidst an era that is anything but simple.
